You need to check whether insulin is clear or cloudy, if cloudy you need to rub it between your palms for 1 minute to make it clear. Shaking of insulin pen must be avoided 4. You need to get alcohol wipes and disposable needles 5. Insert the needle into the cartridge carefully by removing its paper tab. Remove the outer cap after fixing the needle and then remove the inner cap. 6. You need to prime the pen. Priming is a phenomenon which is used to remove air bubbles in needle to make sure that the needle is working properly. In order to prime the needle you need to push the knob of pen and should allow at least 1-2 drops to appear. Then, adjust the required dosage level with the help of knob. 7. You need to select the appropriate area for injecting insulin. Mostly insulin is injected in abdomen, front and side of thighs, upper arm and outer arms. You need to rotate your injection sites because using the same area for injection might harden the tissue under the skin and can affect the working of insulin. Also, areas with scars and moles must be avoided as this might hinder the performance of insulin. After selecting your perfect site, inject the insulin carefully into the body.
